Tirumala Adhika Masa Brahmotsavam 2026 Schedule, Travel Tips & Highlights

Tirumala Brahmotsavam – 2026

The Brahmotsavam at Lord Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala is one of the grandest annual festivals, celebrated for nine days in September or October. In 2026, due to the occurrence of Adhika Masam (an extra month in the lunar calendar), two Brahmotsavams will be observed, continuing the age-old tradition of conducting dual celebrations in such years. Normally, only one Brahmotsavam is held annually.

The upcoming Adhika Masa Brahmotsavam will be celebrated from September 15 to September 23, 2026. The origin of this festival is traced to Lord Brahma, the creator, who is believed to have first performed this utsavam to Sri Balaji on the banks of the sacred Pushkarini in Tirupati. Hence, the festival is named “Brahmotsavam” – Brahma’s Utsavam.

Accommodation Tips

  • TTD Guesthouses & Choultries: Book early through the official TTD website or counters. Rooms fill up months in advance during Brahmotsavam.

  • Budget Planning: Expect higher demand and surge pricing during Garuda Seva and Rathotsavam days.

Darshan & Seva Tips

  • Dress Code: Traditional attire is mandatory—men in dhoti/pants with shirt, women in saree/salwar.
  • Peak Days: Garuda Vahana Seva (Sept 19) and Rathotsavam (Sept 22) are the most crowded. Arrive early and expect long queues.

Practical Travel Tips

  • Carry Essentials: Light cotton clothes, water bottles, and comfortable footwear.
  • Health & Safety: Elderly pilgrims should avoid peak crowd days or opt for paid darshan for convenience.
  • Connectivity: Mobile networks can be patchy in Tirumala; plan accordingly.
  • Food: Free meals are served at Annaprasadam Complex, but private eateries are also available.

Insider Advice

  • Plan your trip around Garuda Seva if you want to witness the most spiritually significant procession.
  • If traveling with children or elderly, consider staying in Tirupati town and commuting daily—it’s less stressful than staying in Tirumala during peak festival days.
  • Always keep original ID proofs handy for bookings and darshan entry.
