Among the three Teej
festivals observed by Hindu women—Kajari Teej, Hariyali Teej, and Hartalika
Teej—the most important is Hartalika Teej. Celebrated on the Tritiya
(3rd day) of Shukla Paksha in Bhadrapada month, this festival honors Goddess
Parvati and Lord Shiva. Married women observe a strict fast for the long
life of their husbands, while unmarried girls keep the vrat to be blessed with
a good husband.

(abduction) and aalika (female friend).
