The sacred city of Tirupati
will witness a month filled with devotion and grandeur at the Sri
Kodandarama Swamy Temple this April. Dedicated to Lord Rama, the temple has
lined up a series of special rituals and festivals that promise to immerse
devotees in spiritual bliss.
Festival Highlights
- On April 11, 18, and 25
(Saturdays), the temple will host the Abhishekam ritual at 6:00
AM. This sacred bathing ceremony of the presiding deities is performed
with devotion, symbolizing purification and divine blessings.
- On April 17 (Amavasya day),
the temple will conduct the Sahasra Kalashabhishekam at 8:30 AM.
This grand ritual involves offering sanctified water from a thousand pots
to Lord Rama, invoking prosperity and peace. Later in the evening, at 7:00
PM, devotees can witness the Hanumanta Vahana Seva, where Lord Rama
is taken out in procession on Hanuman’s vahana, a spectacle of devotion
and strength.
- On April 23, the temple will
perform Ankurarpanam, the preliminary ritual that marks the
beginning of the much-awaited Pushpayagam festival.
- On April 24, the temple will
celebrate Pushpayagam, the vibrant flower festival. Deities will be
adorned with thousands of blossoms, transforming the temple into a floral
paradise and filling the atmosphere with fragrance and devotion.
Spiritual Significance
Each of these rituals
carries deep meaning. The Abhishekam purifies and energizes the idols,
while the Sahasra Kalashabhishekam symbolizes abundance and divine
grace. The Hanumanta Vahana Seva highlights Hanuman’s eternal devotion
to Lord Rama, and the Pushpayagam reflects gratitude through the
offering of nature’s beauty.
