Do’s – What Pilgrims
Should Follow
- Pay respects to your Ishta Daivam
or Kula Daivam before starting the pilgrimage.
- Book travel and accommodation
well in advance.
- Take a holy dip in Swami
Pushkarini and worship Sri Bhu Varaha Swamy before visiting
Lord Venkateswara.
- Bathe and wear clean clothes
before entering the sanctum.
- Focus your mind on Lord
Venkateswara during darshan.
- Maintain silence and chant “Om
Namo Sri Venkatesaya” inside the temple.
- Bathe at Papavinasanam and Akasha
Ganga tirthams.
- Respect ancient customs and
traditions.
- Promote religious harmony
among fellow pilgrims.
- Deposit offerings only in the Hundi.
- Wear a tilak according to your
religious tradition.
- Follow temple procedures and wait
patiently for your turn.
Don’ts – What Pilgrims
Must Avoid
- Don’t visit Tirumala for purposes
other than worship.
- Don’t carry excess jewelry or cash.
- Don’t wear footwear in or
around temple premises.
- Don’t approach touts for
accommodation or darshan.
- Don’t perform sastanga pranamam
inside the temple.
- Don’t discard prasadam or teertham.
- Don’t consume non-vegetarian food,
liquor, intoxicants, or smoke.
- Don’t wear headgear (caps,
turbans, helmets, hats) inside the temple.
- Don’t engage in violence or harsh
behavior.
- Don’t rush for darshan; wait
in the queue.
- Don’t enter the temple if custom
prohibits you.
- Don’t wear flowers, as they
are reserved for the Lord.
- Don’t encourage begging.
- Don’t spit or cause nuisance
inside the premises.
- Don’t carry weapons or ammunition;
declare licensed arms at Alipiri checkpoint with documents.
