Navratri,
beginning on September 22, 2025, is a sacred celebration of Maa
Durga’s nine manifestations, each representing a unique spiritual lesson.
This year, the festival spans 10 days, culminating in Vijayadashami.
Day 1 – Maa
Shailaputri (Daughter of the Himalayas)
- Symbolizes strength and grounding.
- Carries a trident and lotus.
- Rides a bull (Nandi).
- Represents the beginning of spiritual
awakening.
Day 2 – Maa
Brahmacharini (Goddess of Penance)
- Embodies austerity, wisdom, and
devotion.
- Holds a rudraksha mala and kamandalu.
- Encourages inner discipline and
spiritual growth.
Day 3 – Maa
Chandraghanta (Warrior Goddess)
- Wears a crescent moon on her
forehead.
- Has ten arms, ready for
battle.
- Rides a tiger, symbolizing
courage and grace.
Day 4 – Maa Kushmanda
(Cosmic Creator)
- Creator of the universe through her
divine smile.
- Name breakdown: Ku (little), Ushma
(warmth), Anda (cosmic egg).
- Depicted with eight arms,
riding a lion.
Day 5 – Maa Skandamata
(Mother of Skanda)
- Carries Lord Kartikeya in her
lap.
- Teaches nurturing, motherhood, and
compassion.
- Seated on a lion, with lotus
flowers in hand.
Day 6 – Maa Katyayani
(Fearless Warrior)
- Born to sage Katyayan.
- Symbol of valor and justice.
- Rides a lion, with eighteen
arms wielding divine weapons.
Day 7 – Maa Kaalratri
(Destroyer of Darkness)
- Fierce and protective form.
- Rides a donkey, with weapons
like thunderbolt and scimitar.
- Removes fear and negativity.
Day 8 – Maa Mahagauri
(Goddess of Purity)
- Radiant and serene.
- Carries a trident and damru.
- Symbolizes inner cleansing and
peace.
Day 9 – Maa
Siddhidatri (Giver of Siddhis)
- Grants spiritual powers and
enlightenment.
- Seated on a lotus, holding shankha,
chakra, mace.
- Embodiment of Mahashakti, the ultimate divine energy.
