The sacred Srivari
Temple in Tirumala will host the annual Salakatla Jyeshtabhishekam
from June 26 to 28, 2026. This celestial festival, also known as Abhidyeyaka
Abhishekam, is observed every year in the month of Jyeshta, concluding on
the day of Jyeshta Nakshatra.
Venue
The rituals will be
performed in the Kalyana Mandapam of Sampangi Prakaram, where devotees
gather to witness the divine ceremonies.
Significance
The Jyeshtabhishekam is
performed to protect the ancient ceremonial idols of the deities from
wear and tear caused by repeated abhishekams over generations. It is a unique
festival that emphasizes preservation and sanctity.
Ritual Highlights &
Armours
- Day 1 (June 26):
The golden armour of Sri Malayappa Swamy is removed. Homas,
abhishekams, and Panchamrutha Snapana Tirumanjanam are performed.
The deity is then adorned with a diamond armour.
- Day 2 (June 27):
Sri Malayappa Swamy is decked in a pearl armour.
- Day 3 (June 28):
The deity is adorned once again with the gold armour, which remains
throughout the year until the next Jyeshtabhishekam.
This sequence of armours
symbolizes divine strength, purity, and eternal protection.
Annual Tradition
The gold armour is
removed only once a year during Jyeshtabhishekam. For the rest of the year, the
utsava deity participates in various festivals adorned in this sacred armour.
