Surya Puja Mahotsavam 2026 at Nagalapuram – Festival Schedule, Teppotsavams & Matsya Jayanti

At the sacred Sri Vedanarayana Swamy Temple in Nagalapuram, the annual Surya Puja Mahotsavam is celebrated in grandeur from March 24 to 28, 2026. This rare festival is rooted in legend: after Lord Mahavishnu incarnated as Matsya and fought a prolonged battle, Surya Bhagavan showered his rays upon the Lord to provide warmth.

Even today, this cosmic alignment continues—sunlight travels nearly 630 feet from the Rajagopuram to fall directly on the Moolavirat (main deity).

  • Day 1: Rays on the feet
  • Day 2: Rays on the navel
  • Day 3: Rays on the head

This divine illumination is a breathtaking sight for devotees.
