famous Hindu pilgrimage centre where the Moola Brindavanam of Sri Guru
Raghavendra Swami is located.
Sri Guru Raghavendra
Swami lived in the 16th century and was a revered Acharya of the
Madhva Sampradaya. Devotees especially worship him on Thursdays,
which are considered very auspicious for Sri Guru Raghavendra Swami.
He strongly propagated Vaishnavism
and the Dvaita philosophy preached by Sri Madhvacharya. Devotees
believe Sri Guru Raghavendra Swami to be the re-embodiment of Prahlada,
the great devotee saved by Lord Vishnu in His Narasimha avatar.
Sri Guru Raghavendra
Swami performed many miracles during his lifetime and is believed to continue
blessing his devotees even today. His name, “Raghavendra,” was chosen by
Moola Rama Devaru (Lord Rama) and holds deep spiritual meaning. It
signifies Lord Rama as the Indra of the Raghu dynasty and also means “one
who destroys sins and grants desired boons.”
Sri Raghavendra Tirtha

He spread true knowledge, defeated philosophical opponents, guided his
