In preparation for the
annual Brahmotsavams of Sri Venkateswara Swamy (Sep 24 – Oct 02),
the sacred purification ritual Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam will be performed
at Srivari Temple, Tirumala on Tuesday, September 16.
Significance of Koil
Alwar Tirumanjanam
- Etymology:

Together, it refers to the ritual cleansing of the sanctum sanctorum by devotees as a divine service. - Ritual Process:
- Performed from 6:00 am to 10:00
am.
- The main deity is veiled with
a white cloth.
- Parivara deities and puja objects
are brought out and cleaned.
- Cleaning is done using Parimalam,
a fragrant mix of:
- Camphor
- Sandalwood
- Saffron
- Turmeric
- Kichiligadda (a sacred tuber)
- After purification, all items are
returned, and special poojas are offered to Lord Venkateswara.
- Agama Shastra Compliance:
The entire ritual is conducted according to Vaikhanasa Agama traditions, ensuring spiritual and scriptural sanctity. - Annual Occurrence:
Held four times a year, on Tuesdays preceding: - Ugadi
