Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam – September 16, 2025: Tirumala’s Sacred Ritual Before Brahmotsavams
In preparation for the
annual Brahmotsavams of Sri Venkateswara Swamy (Sep 24 – Oct 02),
the sacred purification ritual Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam will be performed
at Srivari Temple, Tirumala on Tuesday, September 16.
Significance of Koil
Alwar Tirumanjanam
- Etymology:
- Koil
      – Sacred shrine
- Alwar
      – Devotee
- Tiru
      – Divine
- Manjanam
      – Bath
 Together, it refers to the ritual cleansing of the sanctum sanctorum by devotees as a divine service.
- Ritual Process:
- Performed from 6:00 am to 10:00
      am.
- The main deity is veiled with
      a white cloth.
- Parivara deities and puja objects
      are brought out and cleaned.
- Cleaning is done using Parimalam,
      a fragrant mix of: 
- Camphor
- Sandalwood
- Saffron
- Turmeric
- Kichiligadda (a sacred tuber)
- After purification, all items are
      returned, and special poojas are offered to Lord Venkateswara.
- Agama Shastra Compliance:
 The entire ritual is conducted according to Vaikhanasa Agama traditions, ensuring spiritual and scriptural sanctity.
- Annual Occurrence:
 Held four times a year, on Tuesdays preceding:
- Ugadi
- Anivara Asthanam
- Vaikuntha Ekadasi
- Annual Brahmotsavams

- Ashtadala Pada Padmaradhana Seva:
 Cancelled on September 16 due to the purification ceremony.
- VIP Break Darshan:
 Cancelled on September 16 (except for protocol dignitaries).
