This week, the temple town is set to witness a series of spiritually
significant festivals that blend devotion, tradition, and grandeur. Each event
carries its own legend and ritual, offering devotees a rare chance to
experience the richness of Tirumala’s heritage. From unique processions to holy
baths and celestial vahanams, the atmosphere will be filled with chants, music,
and the blessings of the Lord.
September
24 – Bagh Savari
- Unique
Festival: Observed immediately after the
annual Brahmotsavams.
- Legend:
Commemorates the divine play testing the devotion of Saint Ananthalwar.
- Saint
Ananthalwar caught hold of Goddess Padmavathi for damaging his garden,
while Lord Venkateswara fled in an anti‑clockwise direction.
- Later,
realizing his mistake, he freed the Goddess.
- Celebration:
Deities are taken in a rare anti‑clockwise procession to visit
Ananthalwar’s sacred flower gardens, followed by rituals and return to the
temple.

25 – Chakrasnanam
- Occasion:
Following Ananta Padmanabha Vratam.
- Ritual:
Chakra Snana Mahotsavam observed in Swamy Pushkarini during
early morning hours.
- Significance:
Devotees believe bathing in the holy waters during this ritual cleanses
sins and grants divine blessings.

26 – Pournami Garuda Seva
- Monthly
Ritual: Held on Pournami (Full Moon).
- Timing:
7:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
- Celebration:
The Utsava deity of Sri Malayappa Swamy takes a celestial ride on Garuda
Vahanam along the four Mada streets, blessing devotees with divine
darshan.
