Swamy Temple is a remarkable shrine from the Hoysala period, built
by the legendary sculptor Amarashilpi Jakanacharya. Known for its divine

- Birthplace of
Jakanacharya: Kaidala, earlier known as Kridapura,
is believed to be the birthplace of the immortal sculptor.
- The Flaw
& Redemption: Jakanacharya’s son,
Dankanacharya, discovered a flaw in the Belur Chennigaraya idol. True to
his word, Jakanacharya cut off his right hand. Later, while building the
Kaidala temple, Lord Chennakeshava miraculously restored his hand during
bhajans, giving the village its name Kaidala (“Kai” means hand in
Kannada).
- Royal
Patronage: Guided by Sri Ramanujacharya,
Jakanacharya sculpted temples under King Vishnuvardhana of the Hoysalas.
The Kaidala temple is believed to be his final masterpiece.
