The Legend of Supriya and
Daruka
According to the Shiva
Purana, Supriya, a devout follower of Lord Shiva, was captured by the
demoness Daruka. Even in captivity, he inspired fellow prisoners to chant “Om
Namah Shivaya.” Enraged, Daruka ordered his death, but Lord Shiva appeared,
destroyed the demonic forces, and manifested as a Jyotirlinga at the site. This
