On this day, Lord Shiva incarnated as Batuk Bhairav, a five‑year‑old
boy, to defeat the demon Apad.
- Scriptural References:
In the Vedas, Shiva is called Rudra, while in Tantra Shastra, he is
described as Bhairav.
- Defeat of Apad:
The demon Apad had a boon that no god or goddess could kill him, only a
child under five. Lord Shiva incarnated as Batuk Bhairav and destroyed
him, relieving gods and humans.
