The sacred town of Nagalapuram, nestled in Andhra Pradesh, is preparing for one of its most auspicious temple ceremonies — the Vimana Jatthroddharana Ashtabandhana Mahasamprokshanam at the revered Sri Vedanarayana Swamy Temple, along with Sri Vedavalli Sametha.

2026 Ritual Schedule

February 17 – Commencement of Ceremonies (5:30 pm)

  • Acharya Ritwik Varanam – Selection of priests for the rituals
  • Punyaham – Purification rites
  • Mritasanghranan – Collection of sacred earth
  • Ankurarpanam – Seed-sowing ritual symbolizing new beginnings

February 18 – Asta Bandhana Samarpana

  • Morning: Asta Bandhana Samarpana (application of sacred binding paste to the pedestal of the deity)
  • Evening: Punyaham, Panchagni Pratishtha (installation of five sacred fires), Kumbha Vahanam, Aradhana, Homam, Poornahuti

February 19 – Sacred Purifications

  • Pancha Gavyadhivasam – Purification with five sacred cow products
  • Nava Kalasha Snapanam – Ritual bathing with nine kalashas

February 20 – Abhishekams & Vedic Programs

  • Morning: Ksheerabdhivasam (milk consecration)
  • Evening: Vedic programs in Yagasala
  • Morning (next day): Jaladhivasam (water consecration)
  • Evening: Maha Shanti Tirumanjanam (grand purification ritual)

February 22 – Maha Samprokshanam

  • 11:00 am – 12:00 noon: Vimana Rajagopura Samprokshanam (consecration of the temple tower)
  • 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Maha Samprokshanam of the Moola Virat (main deity)
  • Post Rituals: Darshan of the energized deity for devotees.
