Importance
- Dhanurmasam is considered highly
auspicious for Lord Vishnu worship.
- It is believed that Lord Vishnu
begins His day by listening to Tiruppavai Pasuras.
- In Vishnu temples, Tiruppavai
replaces Suprabhatham during this month.
- One day of Dhanurmasa pooja = 1000
years of daily pooja.
- Nama Sankirtanam is especially
prescribed for Kaliyuga, making this month spiritually powerful.
Do’s
- Wake up during Brahmamuhurtham.
- Take a holy bath at home or in river.
- Completely surrender to Lord Vishnu.
- Offer flowers to Lord Vishnu.
- Recite Tiruppavai, Vishnu
Sahasranamam, Lalitha Sahasranamam, Purusha Sooktham, Narayana Sooktham.
- Decorate house with flowers and
rangoli.
- Visit Lord Vishnu temples.
- Women can perform Margali Nomu /
Katyayani Vratam for fulfillment of wishes.
- Offer Sweet Pongal, Khara Pongal,
Puliyodarai as prasadam.
Don’ts
- Marriages
and Gruha Pravesham are avoided during this month.
- Hair cutting is not performed.
