- Periyanayaki’s
Devotion: A staunch devotee who disappeared in
the temple, believed to have merged with Lord Shiva. The Nagarathar
community built a shrine for her, worshipping her as Ambica.

Tree Legend: A sage blessed a poor hunter couple
with a golden palm tree yielding one fruit daily. The hunter sold 4,420
fruits to a trader. Later, the trader used the wealth to build this
temple, while 3,000 fruits are believed to be buried in the area.

Contribution: The Rajagopuram (main tower) was
built during the Pandya dynasty, blessing devotees with its grandeur.
