About the Festival
The Patra Pushpa Yagam
is one of the most sacred rituals performed at the Sri Kapileswara Swamy
Temple in Tirupati. Dedicated to Lord Kapileswara Swamy and Goddess
Kamakshi Ammavaru, this yajna symbolizes purification, universal welfare, and
atonement for any lapses committed by priests, attendants, officials, or
devotees during temple activities.
Festival Schedule
April 30 – Ankurarpana
- Time:
6 PM
- The ritual of sowing seeds,
symbolizing auspicious beginnings, is performed to mark the commencement
of the festival.
May 1 – Main Festival Day
Morning (7 AM – 9 AM):
- Snapan Tirumanjanam
- Maha Poornahuti
- Kalashabhishekam
- Abhishekam with sacred substances:
milk, curd, honey, Panchamritam, sugarcane juice, coconut water, vibhuti,
turmeric, and sandalwood
Midday (10 AM – 12 Noon):
- Patra Pushpa Yagam
- Offering of flowers: chrysanthemum,
oleander, mogali, champak, jasmine, rose, lotus, kanakambaram
- Offering of sacred leaves: bilva,
tulasi, paneer leaves
Evening (6 PM – 8 PM):
- Tiruveedhi Utsavam
of Sri Chandrasekhara Swamy and Manmohini Ammavaru
- Procession through temple streets,
delighting devotees with divine darshan
