History
Historically, the area was once a dense forest. A
hunter (Boyavadu) took shelter under a tree during heavy rains, and through
divine intervention, Lord Shiva manifested here as Kapoteswara Swamy.
Legends
- The
temple’s name comes from the word “Kapota” (pigeon). According to
legend, two pigeons and a hunter performed great sacrifice and devotion,
which moved Lord Shiva to appear at Kadali.
- Another
story says devotees prayed for blessings, and Lord Shiva assured them of
His eternal presence in Kadali, later appearing as Thaleswara Swamy.
