Sabarimala Pilgrimage Guidelines – Do’s and Don’ts for Devotees
Do’s
- Rest
for 5 minutes after every 10-minute walk during the climb
- Use
the traditional route: Marakoottam → Saramkuthy → Nadapanthal →
Sannidhanam
- Follow
the queue system to reach Pathinettampadi
- Use
the Nadapanthal flyover for your return journey
- Use
designated toilets and latrines for sanitation
- Check
crowd status at Pampa before proceeding to Sannidhanam
- If
using Dolly service, pay only at Devaswom counters and
retain the receipt
- Cooperate
with security checks at all checkpoints
- Approach
police for assistance or to report suspicious activity
- Buy
food only from licensed outlets
- Keep
Pampa, Sannidhanam, and trekking paths clean
- Park
only in designated parking areas
- Dispose
of waste in waste bins
- Use
medical centers and oxygen parlors if needed
- Ensure
children, elderly, and Malikapurams wear ID cards with contact info
- If separated from your group, report to the nearest police aid post
Don’ts
- Do
not use mobile phones inside temple premises
- No
smoking at Pampa, Sannidhanam, or en route
- Avoid
alcohol or drugs
- Do
not jump or rush in queues
- Do
not carry weapons or explosives
- Avoid
unauthorized vendors
- Do
not urinate or defecate outside designated areas
- Do
not make extra payments for services
- Firecrackers
are strictly prohibited
- Do
not break coconuts on or near Pathinettampadi; use
designated spots
- Do
not kneel on the holy steps
- Do
not use alternate return paths; only use Nadapanthal flyover
- Avoid
resting at Upper Thirumuttam or Thanthrinada
- Do
not spread ground mats (viris) on pathways at Nadapanthal or Lower
Thirumuttam
- Do
not use cooking gas or stoves at Sannidhanam
- Extinguish
any open flames immediately after use
- Submit yourself and your baggage for security checks before climbing Pathinettampadi
