  • Hindu Calendar: 8th month, named after the star Krittika visible on the full moon day.

Early Morning Snanam (Bath)

  • Before sunrise, preferably in a river.
  • Ganga Snanam in Kartika is said to surpass the merit of 100 Ashwamedha Yagnas.
